When you work in education and research, it’s important to remember your own professional development. That’s why UNCG encourages you to fuel your personal growth and career mobility by taking advantage of learning opportunities that will take your career to the next level.

Learning and Development

Along with exploring our website to learn about HR programs, benefits, and services, UNCG brings customized and nationally recognized educational, learning, and training programs to campus. Through the Human Resources Learning and Development department, you and your staff can benefit from practical, effective training programs and career coaching at times that fit your schedule. Learning and Development selects and develops courses with UNCG’s culture in mind to prepare current and future staff leaders to fulfill our unique mission. These courses bring out the best in participants while allowing you and your team to stay productive. Learn more about HR Learning and Development.

Tuition Waiver Program

UNCG also offers a vast array of campus educational programming through our tuition waiver and academic assistance programs. The purpose of the Tuition Waiver Program is to provide an opportunity for eligible employees to have tuition and fees waived for a course taken at any of the 17 campuses of the University of North Carolina. Participation in the program is voluntary, and courses may be taken for either career development or personal interest. The Tuition Waiver Program is administered through the Cashiers and Student Accounts Office located at 151 Mossman Building on campus. Learn more about UNCG's Tuition Waiver Program.

Academic Assistance

The purpose of the academic assistance program is for workforce planning and development. It provides a tool for managers and employees to support academic activities that directly relate to the organization’s identified knowledge, skills, and behaviors (organizational competencies), and which support the mission, vision, and values of the organization. The academic assistance program is not an employee benefit, right or entitlement; it is a management program for workforce development. Denial of participation in the academic assistance program is not grievable, except on grounds of discrimination. Learn more about the Academic Assistance Program.
