The Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for HR

Our office provides leadership of the human resources priorities and strategies for UNCG's workforce. The Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer has responsibility for setting the vision and creating strategies and initiatives designed to support UNCG's mission of student achievement. The Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer oversees the implementation of HR programs and services in order to drive the success of the HR organization. Talent Solutions provides a consultative, solution-driven approach to talent alignment and acquisition by designing positions that fulfill organizational and university goals, recruiting top-tier talent to the University, and ensuring attractive, equitable, and competitive compensation to promote excellence in pursuit of UNCG’s mission and goals. HR Business Partners and Employee Relations

HR Business Partners and Employee Relations is dedicated to providing consultative services based on a wide range of issues related to employees, management support and guidance, as well as organizational effectiveness and work environment issues. We partner to design workplace solutions to assist departments in focusing on their core competencies so they can support students in their success.

HR Business Partners and Employee Relations aligns business objectives with employees and management in designated departments.We serve as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues, while acting as an employee champion and change agent. Finally, we manage employee relations and interpret workplace policies, consult with managers to address and resolve issues related to employee performance and conduct, and assist managers with talent management strategies.

We also provide consultation and assessment related to an organization’s design and structure. We employs a holistic approach that includes collaboration and partnership with other Human Resources teams as needed. This partnership could encompass collaboration with Human Resource activities such as recruitment, creation and classification of positions, compensation, employee training and development, team building, and performance management.

Benefits and Retirement Services

Benefits and Retirement Services communicate with employees, retirees and prospective employees/applicants so they understand all UNCG has to offer. We also provide guidance, benefits and leave administration to managers and HR Liaisons across campus.

HR Operations

HR Operations provides a broad range of university support regarding HR- and payroll-related transactions, including electronic personnel action requests, time and labor, job changes, payable compensation, longevity, prior state service, job data and records management. We work directly with department representatives to process, validate, and audit HR system-related transactions.

Our mission is to create an efficient and positive onboarding experience for new employees by providing superior personalized customer service, serving as a knowledgeable resource, enhancing institutional pride and engagement among employees, building and maintaining positive relationships with university partners, and promoting the university culture. In addition to overseeing the background, reference check, and credentialing program, we ensure new employees are onboarded into the University's Banner ERP system in order to ensure they are paid accurately and on time.

HR Operations also maintains personnel records for EHRA non-faculty and SHRA employees.

HR Information Systems

The Banner HR System is an ERP application accessible from the Genie Portal with a valid employee ID and password. The application supports the information needs of Human Resources (HR), Payroll, Employee Services, Benefits, and Management functions within the university. It merges resource management activities into standardized categories, folders, sub folders, and topics. The linkage of its payroll and human resource activities in the HR System makes the software application both rigid and flexible for processing personnel actions.

HRIS provides functional support and troubleshooting for core users of the system, to include HR and Payroll staff. We provide reporting support, training on various modules, and customization and configuration of the system to support the needs of the HR Teams. We also communicate with employees, retirees and prospective employees/applicants so they understand all that UNCG Human Resources has to offer.
