Welcome to UNCG!


There are a number of employee services that may be requested prior to your first day at UNCG. Nearly all services will require that you provide your 9 digit University ID number which you should have received from the eHire system. If you do not know your ID number, please contact Human Resources at (336) 334-5009. Additionally, many services will require that you have activated your default computer accounts. If you have any questions related to the services listed below, please contact the appropriate office as listed in each section.

Computer Access/Email Accounts

Default Accounts and Email


Default computer accounts at UNCG include access to the General Computing Network (GCN), a UNCG iSpartan account (email, calendaring, cloud document hosting, and more), UNCGenie employee self-service, and others.

To activate your default computer accounts please visit the link below.

UNCGenie (Employee Self-Service)


UNCGenie is the employee self-service web portal at UNCG. With UNCGenie you can modify your campus directory information, review your pay stub, review your leave balances, review your job information,submit your tax forms, and more. If you are enrolled in courses at UNCG you can also review information related to these courses.

To access UNCGenie you must know your University ID number and your PIN. To setup your PIN, please visit the link below.

Canvas


Canvas is a web-based Learning Management System that is built on the modern concepts of adaptability, reliability, efficiency, and effectiveness. Canvas allows instructors and students to create and interact with educational and collaborative content beyond the traditional classroom. Canvas is mobile-friendly, and is designed to make the most common tasks easier and faster, so that teaching and learning is enjoyable.

Banner


Banner is a comprehensive computer information system that contains information on courses, students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Components of the Banner system include student, financial aid, finance, human resources, and alumni. Banner provides information to users through either internet-based forms or through web access using UNCGenie.

If your job duties will require access to Banner, please use the link below to request access. You will need to have activated your default accounts to request access to Banner.

There are other accounts available for specific job duties that you may need access to. Some accounts are listed here, though there may be others.

SpartanCard

The SpartanCard is your all-in-one campus ID card.

In addition to serving as your ID, the SpartanCard is also your library card, your meal card, and a convenient form of payment across campus.

This card will play a large part in your campus life by allowing you access to university programs and services.

If you store money on your SpartanCard using SpartanCash, you won’t need a dime in your pocket to make purchases at campus dining locations, the UNCG Bookstore, or other locations all across campus.

Parking Permit

A valid UNCG parking permit must be displayed at all times when parked on University property.

Permit should be displayed on interior lower left corner of vehicle front windshield, driver side.

Direct Deposit

As a condition of employment, all employees paid at UNC Greensboro must participate in the University Direct Deposit program. (Finance Policy 9).

New employees

Once you receive your University ID #, please login to UNCGenie self-service to enroll in the direct deposit program.

Current or Returning Employees

Verify or update your direct deposit information, please login to UNCGenie self-service.

Tax Forms

Upon hire, the federal tax (W-4) withholding and state (NC-4) withholding for all new employees are set to the the default withholding status of “Single” with “0” allowances in accordance with tax regulations.

Withholding Changes

You may make changes to your tax withholding, through UNCGenie self-service.

In accordance with tax regulations, withholding adjustments cannot be made retroactive.

If you are a Foreign National, please reference the special instructions for nonresident aliens and email payroll.tax.nra@uncg.edu to schedule an appointment for a tax assessment before you can start being paid by the University.

I-9/E-Verify

UNC Greensboro now utilizes an electronic I-9 system (Guardian LawLogix) for the completion of I-9 forms. Every new or re-hired employee (faculty, staff, and students) must present documents verifying identity and eligibility to work in the U.S. Federal law requires you to complete I-9 form on or before your first day of work, but no later than your first day of work. Dining Options

There are a number of dining options on campus available to employees, including discounted meal plans for Faculty and Staff.
